![]() | An elliptical galaxy of type E0 in the constellation Virgo, M89 is one of the many members of the Virgo Cluster. Deep, long exposures show much larger structure apparently enveloping the galaxy, which may be part of the larger Virgo cluster itself, instead of being directly related to M89. In a 8-inch scope, this galaxy is larger and slightly brighter than M58. It has a stellar core, and is definitely elliptical in shape. |
