Messier 64 Black-eye Galaxy

M64, or NGC4826, also known as the `Black Eye' galaxy, is a type Sa/Sb spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices. The latest given distance of M64 is 19 million light years.

In a 8-inch scope, at 122x, this is an elongated spiral galaxy. The core is somewhat stellar, and mottling can be seen. There are hints of the 'black eye' dust lane, but it's not sharply defined.
