Messier 28

M28 is a globular cluster in the constellation Sagittarius. Slightly elliptical in shape, it is around 80 light-years across and some 18,000 light-years away.

In 7x50 binoculars about 1/4 field NW of lambda, M28 was just visible as a spot of haze, showing loose concentration and no other detail.
In a 8-inch scope this is a fairly bright cluster, but it is hard to resolve. Even at 188X, it can barely detect a few stars around the outer edges.
